Providing vegetarian meant that Mr Yiew and his team had an additional challenge of creating dishes that would be palatable to the public. Mr Yiew tested the market with an innovative menu providing a range of dishes that were targeted at the young and health conscious crowd. These include recipes that are popular with the locals, like laksa, oyster omelette and “char kway teow” but made healthier with vegetarian options and modified ingredients with less unnecessary seasonings like oil and salt. With modifications and innovations to the business model, Hwa Jin Vegetarian Family Restaurant began to see success.
